#OsheqLoves Michel Adaimy – Our Curated Artist of the month for May

About Michel and his Art

What is your Name, where are you from and when were you born?

Hi, I’m Michel Adaimy, I’m from Lebanon and I was born in 1988.

Tell us something about yourself that you would like our audience to know.

I believe that when you start to discover one’s self, is when you appreciate the simplicity of everything around you.

What is the type/ form/ style of artwork you focus on?

At the moment, I am painting abstract art.

Describe your creative process?

For me, there is no process, I believe in being completely ‘free of mind’.

How did you commence your journey into Art and what was the first piece of Art that you had crafted?

It all started out of curiosity – to see if I can do it. The first piece of art I created was a drawing when I was 7 years old, we were asked to draw ‘nature’, and I drew a wolf surrounded by forest.

How has your style changed over the years?

My style changes as I grow in character and mind – it all depends on my mood.

How do you differentiate your work from the rest?

I don’t differentiate it from anyone. Art is already unique to every individual, and how they perceive it is their own. Nothing new has been added to art for a long time, everything is repeating itself, but how each piece of art differs from the other shows the true feelings that lie within it.

Do you ever experience creative blocks? How do you deal with them?

Of course. At first, I just draw whatever I feel – without any reasoning, and come back to it another time with a fresh mind.

If you had the chance to dine with an artist, who would it be and why?

It would be Vincent Van Gogh for I would love to watch him draw.

On Inspiration

What drives you to create art and where do you get your inspiration from?

For me it’s indescribable; something that is within me. My inspiration comes from my senses to my thoughts – basically, it is everything I experience.

Who inspires you as a person, and as an artist?

As an Artist, it is every unique person that I have met because I believe they have their own unique story.

What is your own favourite artwork and why? what’s the story behind it?

If I had to choose, I would say my own on post-impressionism because there are a lot of colours and emotions in them.

What role do you think artists have in society?

Artists are a reminder of what human nature truly means. It means to be free and to follow what you love, to never give into or submit to a blocked mind.

How do you see the future of art?

The world needs art, it’s a way of life – to remove any kind of art is to remove basic human emotion, so it’s not going anywhere.

On Books

What is the name of the book that you are currently reading?

The Little Prince: Manuscript and painting biography.

Who or what influenced you to choose to read this book?

Friends and family.

Can you name a book that impacted you as a person or that has left a mark on you?

I Am Pilgrim by Terry Hayes

Our brand name is ‘Osheq’ which means Extreme Love or Extreme Passion – what does the word Osheq mean to you as an artist? or what is your own Extreme Love or Osheq story?*

To me, Osheq has a feminine meaning because of the ‘she’ in the middle; a sort of beauty.
